After acclaimed performances in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park last year, Arcola Creative Engagement’s giant puppet opera returns to Dalston to open Grimeborn 2016.
Béla Bartók’s entrancing masterpiece comes to life with large-scale puppets made from recycled materials, designed by Oliver James Hymans and operated by a cast of community performers drawn from across East London.
Music, dance, movement and puppetry intertwine as Judith and Bluebeard venture deeper into the castle. Don’t miss this spectacular one-off event for all of the family to enjoy.
Bluebeard’s Castle features recorded music, performed in English.
This performance will take place in Gillett Square, a unique public space in the heart of Dalston and a large, uncluttered blank canvas for a community to paint differently, every day. Hackney Co-operative Developments works with many partners to ensure that Gillett Square provides the community a vital refuge and place to congregate in community celebration.
